Effective Date: October 10, 2026 Version: 1.3 Last Updated: October 10, 2026
FamBam Labs LLC ("FamBam," "we," "us," or "our") operates the FamBam mobile application and the website at fambam.app (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses FamBam, including parents, caregivers, teens, and children added to a household.
We wrote this policy in plain English because families — not lawyers — are our audience. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@fambam.app.
1. Who We Are
FamBam is a family and household organization platform built for modern family structures — households that span more than one home, multi-generational families, blended families, and nanny shares. FamBam Labs LLC is a Texas limited liability company. Our support email is support@fambam.app and our privacy contact is privacy@fambam.app.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account and Identity Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- A password (stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never see or store your plaintext password)
- Your authentication method (email and password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In)
- An optional profile photo
2.2 Household Information
When you use FamBam with your household ("Fam"), we collect and store content you and your household members create, including:
- Household name and home city (you enter this yourself — we do not read your device GPS)
- Calendar events, tasks, chores, meal plans, and shopping lists
- Photos, documents and files you scan or attach (for example, to an event, a task or a chat message)
- Notes and shared household knowledge
2.3 Information About Children Under 13
If you are a parent or legal guardian who adds a child under 13 to your household, FamBam collects only the minimum information needed to give that child a managed account:
- The child's first name or nickname
- The child's birth year and birth month (we deliberately do not store the birth day for children under 13, as required by COPPA data minimization)
- The child's role (kid or teen) and household membership
- A phone number, only if a parent adds one for reminder texts
- A record of your parental consent (timestamp, consent method, and your user ID as the consenting parent)
Children under 13 never have their own login credentials, email address, or direct access to the Service. They are accessed through a parent's authenticated session or on a shared household device. See Section 7 for full details on children's privacy.
2.4 Device and Technical Information
When you use the FamBam app, we automatically collect:
- Device name, model, operating system, and app version
- Push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, Apple Push Notification Service on iOS) so we can deliver reminders
- Session tokens stored in your device's secure enclave (via expo-secure-store)
- IP address and limited crash, error and performance data via Sentry (see Section 5)
2.5 Voice and Media Information
If you use features that involve voice or media:
- Voice input: when you talk to Bam, your device's own speech recognition turns your voice into text: Apple's on iPhone and iPad, your phone's speech service on Android (usually Google's), and your browser's on the web. FamBam receives only the text, never the audio. To help it recognize names, the app also gives your phone's speech service your household members' names and your list names.
- Photos and documents you scan or attach are stored with the household content they belong to, such as a capture, an event, a task or a chat message. When you scan one for FamBam to read (for example, a school flyer), our AI providers read it (see Section 4).
- Photos saved to your device library are only saved when you explicitly tap to save them.
2.6 Email You Forward to FamBam (Optional Feature)
Each household has its own FamBam email address, ending in @in.fambam.app. FamBam receives an email only when someone sends or forwards it to that address. The email arrives in a mailbox our email provider, Fastmail, hosts for FamBam. FamBam then stores the email and its attachments with your household and uses AI (see Section 4) to find calendar events, tasks, and list items in it for your household to review. You can block senders, or switch your household to a new address at any time; email sent to the old address is no longer added to your household.
2.7 Location Information
FamBam uses only the home city and coordinates you provide during setup, and only to fetch weather forecasts from Open-Meteo, to set your household's time zone (worked out on our servers; nothing is sent), and to tell Bam and the AI that writes the daily summary (see Section 4) which city your household is in. We do not access your device's GPS or track your physical location.
2.8 Our Website
When you visit fambam.app, we use PostHog to understand how the site is used: the pages you visit, what you click, the page that sent you, your browser and device type, and your IP address, linked by a random ID kept in a cookie and your browser's local storage. The FamBam app doesn't use PostHog. If you join our early-access list, we keep your email address, the page or campaign you came from, your browser, and your IP address, and we send you a confirmation email.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Let your household members share calendars, tasks, documents, and other content
- Power the Bam AI assistant (see Section 4)
- Send you reminders and notifications you've requested
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Diagnose crashes and improve app reliability
- Communicate with you about service updates, security issues, and your account
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
Legal bases for processing (GDPR users): We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), based on your consent (for optional features like AI processing of your content, email ingestion, and voice input), on our legitimate interests (improving the Service, preventing fraud and abuse), and to comply with legal obligations.
4. How AI Features Work
FamBam includes an AI assistant called Bam and several AI-assisted features. They run on these AI providers:
- Anthropic Claude (claude-haiku and claude-sonnet models) powers Bam's conversations. When you use Bam, your messages and relevant household context are sent to Anthropic for processing. Claude also takes a second, closer look at a scanned photo or document or a forwarded email when the first pass comes back empty or can't read an attachment, or when someone added a note for FamBam to follow. We also use Claude to check the quality of Bam's answers, and in our team's internal tools for looking into support questions and account issues and understanding how households use FamBam.
- Google Gemini takes the first pass at photos, documents, links, and emails you give FamBam to read (e.g., a school flyer), sorts items into lists you've organized, generates images, writes a short daily summary of your household's day, helps Bam remember facts about your household from your conversations with it, and sorts and translates support requests you send us. Your photos, document scans, links, forwarded emails, and the household information each task needs are sent to Google for processing.
- OpenAI powers Bam's conversations, in place of Anthropic, for a small number of households where we are testing OpenAI's models. For those households, messages to Bam and relevant household context are sent to OpenAI.
What this means for you:
- AI processing happens only for the features listed above.
- AI providers process your content to return a result to you; they do not train their foundation models on your content under our API agreements.
- AI outputs are generated by software and may contain errors. Always verify important information (dates, medical details, legal matters) from authoritative sources.
- Children under 13 do not interact with Bam or any AI feature. No child content is sent to Anthropic, Google, or any other AI provider.
5. Who We Share Information With
FamBam does not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. Your phone number and any mobile opt-in data will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for them to perform their role.

We may also share information to comply with law, respond to a valid legal process, protect the rights and safety of users, or in connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), in which case we will notify you and give you a meaningful choice where required by law.
We do not share children's information with any of the above services beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the Service internally. In particular, no child data is sent to Anthropic, Google Gemini, or Sentry. If a parent adds a phone number for a child, Twilio receives the number and the child's reminder texts, only to deliver them.
6. International Data Transfers
FamBam is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., including from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Canada, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your home country. Where required by law, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
FamBam is intentionally designed for families that include children, and we take children's privacy seriously. This section describes how we handle information about children under 13 in compliance with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").
7.1 Children Under 13 Are Added by Parents Only
Only a parent or legal guardian with an existing FamBam account (a household Captain or Co-Captain) can add a child under 13 to a household. Children cannot create their own FamBam account, cannot sign up directly, and do not receive login credentials.
7.2 What We Collect About Children
For a child under 13, we collect and store only:
- The child's first name or nickname
- Birth year and month (never the birth day)
- The child's role in the household (kid or teen) and their membership record
- Content the household creates about the child (assigned chores, completed tasks, allowance entries, calendar events the child is part of)
- A phone number, only if the parent adds one for reminder texts
- A parental consent record
We do not collect a child's email address, precise location, device identifiers, photos of the child (unless a parent uploads them), or any advertising identifiers. A parent may choose to add a phone number for a child so FamBam can text them with reminders. We use it only for those reminders, never for marketing, and the parent can remove it at any time.
7.3 How We Obtain Parental Consent
When a parent adds a child under 13, FamBam uses a verifiable parental consent method known as "email plus": the parent is already authenticated in the FamBam app, is shown a plain-language notice about what data will be collected and how it will be used, and must affirmatively confirm consent before the child account is created. We record the consent timestamp, the consenting parent's user ID, and the consent method. Because child data is used only internally and is not disclosed to third parties, email-plus is a permitted verifiable parental consent method under 16 C.F.R. § 312.5(b)(2). A service provider that only supports those internal operations is not a third party for this purpose: if a parent adds a phone number for a child, our text-messaging provider (Twilio) receives the number and the reminder text only to deliver that reminder.
7.4 How Children's Data Is Used
Children's data is used only to operate the Service within that child's household: showing their chores, tracking their tasks, and letting household members collaborate. We do not use children's data for:
- Advertising or marketing of any kind
- AI processing (Claude, Gemini, or any third-party AI provider)
- Voice-to-text processing
- Analytics or session recording (the FamBam app has neither. Children never sign in, so no crash report is filed under a child; on a shared household device, crash reports carry the account of the adult who signed it in)
- Profiling or behavioral tracking
- Sharing with any third party, except as strictly necessary for FamBam's internal operations
7.5 Parental Rights
As a parent or legal guardian, you have the right to:
- Review the information we have collected about your child
- Correct any information about your child
- Delete your child's account and all associated data
- Revoke your consent at any time
You can exercise all of these rights directly in the FamBam app under Settings → Family, or by emailing privacy@fambam.app. If you revoke consent or delete the child's account, we will purge the child's data from our active systems within 30 days.
7.6 No Marketing to Children
FamBam does not show advertising to anyone, and especially not to children. We do not use children's information to market to them, and we do not permit third parties to do so either.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law. FamBam honors the rights below for all users, regardless of location, wherever practical.
8.1 Everyone
- Access and export your data. You can export your FamBam data in a machine-readable format directly in the app (Settings → Privacy → Export Data).
- Delete your account. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). When you delete your account, your personal data is purged from our active systems within 30 days. Backup copies are retained for up to 30 additional days before being overwritten. Things other family members added about you (like notes, reminders, or facts they wrote) stay with them, no longer linked to your account, and shared items you created that others added to stay with your household.
- Update your information. You can edit your profile and household settings at any time.
8.2 Residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)
You have the right to: access your data, correct inaccurate data, delete your data ("right to be forgotten"), restrict or object to processing, data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete their personal information, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. FamBam does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise your rights, email privacy@fambam.app.
8.4 "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information"
FamBam does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have no mechanism to "opt out" of a sale because no sale occurs.
8.5 Canada (PIPEDA)
Canadian users have the right to access and correct their personal information held by FamBam and to withdraw consent for optional processing activities. Contact privacy@fambam.app to exercise these rights. You may also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
8.6 How to Exercise Your Rights
For all rights listed above, you can either use the in-app controls or email privacy@fambam.app. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (generally 30 days, extendable in limited circumstances). We may need to verify your identity before responding.
9. Data Retention
We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and comply with our legal obligations:
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Account and household data | While your account is active |
| Deleted account data | Purged from active systems within 30 days of deletion |
| Things other family members added about you | Stay with them, no longer linked to your account (for a child under 13, what others added only about the child is deleted with the child, unless the parent chooses to keep items like notes or events; the birthday, school, and allergies from the setup interview, the health and food profile kept for the child, and the child's profile in Bam's memory, including what another family member wrote in it, are always deleted) |
| Shared items you created that others added to | Stay with your household, handed to its captain (or, for one only some members could see, to one of them), no longer linked to your account |
| Backups | Retained up to 30 days after deletion, then overwritten |
| Children's data (under 13) | Purged immediately upon account deletion, and within 30 days of parental consent revocation |
| Sentry crash and session data | 90 days (per Sentry default retention) |
| Transactional email logs (SendGrid) | 30 days |
| Subscription and billing records | As required by tax and accounting law (generally 7 years) |
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, password hashing, secure enclave storage of session tokens, and principle-of-least-privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe and will notify you in the event of a data breach affecting your personal information as required by law.
11. App Tracking and Advertising
FamBam does not track you across other companies' apps or websites and does not use your information for advertising. We have no third-party advertising SDKs in the app.
12. Device Permissions
FamBam requests only the permissions needed to make specific features work:
- Camera — to scan flyers, permission slips, and documents for Bam to process
- Microphone — to capture voice input for the Bam assistant
- Speech Recognition — to convert voice to text
- Photo Library (read) — to attach photos you choose to household content
- Photo Library (write) — to save AI-generated images when you tap to save them
- Face ID / Fingerprint — optional biometric app lock (biometric data never leaves your device)
- Push Notifications — for reminders and household alerts
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time through your device's system settings.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy will always reflect the most recent version. Continuing to use FamBam after an update means you accept the updated policy.
